About

Welcome to Cats and La Croix!

Welcome to Cats and La Croix— an online space where I share about my journey towards radical self acceptance and my attempts to live authentically in my own skin. This all started in December 2018 when, after a decade-long love affair with wine, I quit drinking because, well, my life was in shambles and most of my problems could be traced back to my drinking.

What I didn’t realize was that sobriety would start a chain reaction in my life, where I learned to accept my whole self: my body and my mind. I want this to be a space where I can share about fun things like my favorite midsize fashion finds and embracing fitness as a form of self-love, not punishment. I also want to use this space to talk about real issues that impact my life like mental health (I live with bipolar II disorder, generalized anxiety disorder and ADHD), recovery (I am two years sober), disordered eating and body acceptance.

Outside of this blog I am a mom of two year old, Eliana, married to Matt (for almost a decade because in Kansas we marry young) and a full time nonprofit professional. I also have two cats named Tesla (after the scientist not the car) and Mav and an addiction to sparkling water, hence the name of the blog. We live in the Kansas City metro and I hope to showcase some of our favorite Kansas City spots when the world opens back up.

Thanks for stopping by!

XO,
Sarah
